Premeditated by Sony, Blu ray disc’s or simply blu ray gets its name from the violet colored laser light that is released to help read and write on this particular type of disk. Blu ray is an advanced DVD format, where its main purpose and function is to use high definition video and data storage using 50GB per disc. Blu ray is capable of storing more data due to its short use of wavelength, allowing it to carry six times more data than a regular DVD format. Blu ray uses 405 nanometers (a unit in length in the metric system, equal to one billionth of a meter) while a regular DVD will use 650 nanometers and has a red laser.  The advantage for many wedding videographers and wedding photographers of using a Blu ray DVD on your wedding day is that you can fit more data while using less space, in the end saving you money and the convenience of using less DVD’s.
