There are a few different types of skirts a bride may choose from, all of which look flattering on different body types.
BALL GOWN
A ball gown style skirt is one which hides the body from the waist and hips down. This skirt type is flattering on almost everybody, and does not show off any problem areas a bride may have. The ball gown skirt has a puff skirt that is maintained by added hoop or tulle underneath the skirt. For a more curly effect, the bottom of each layer of the wedding dress may be fluted. This skirt type is very flattering and elegant. Perfect for a more elegant high class themed wedding.
A-LINE
An A- line style skirt is also a great way for brides to go. It is more simple and elegant yet still suites brides of all shapes and sizes. The A-line dress helps the bride create an illusion that a bride is tall and thin.
PRINCESS
A princess style skirt, inspired by the A-line skirt. Main feature of this princess dress is the fitted bodice and waist which then lead to an A-line skirt. The princess dress is the best for heavier women for it too creates an illusion of height. However for this dress to reach its full potential, a bride needs to have some bust. With that in mind, this dress will not be flattering on a slim woman that has little to no bust. Keep in mind, if you do have a bigger bust, it is recommended to not choose a strapless dress. Having the proper support looks more flattering on a bride to be.
FISH TAIL AND MERMAID
This type of wedding dress is mean for skinnier more petit women. The fish tail or mermaid dress pretty much describes itself by its own name. It comes much fitted up top all the way to the hip area, then it flairs out at the base of the dress. What a great way to emphasis your great curves and hips in this mermaid and fish tail.
SOFT AND SUBTLE
This particular dress may be for women that is having an outdoor or beach wedding. It has no defined structure just falls softly on a thin figure. This dress however has some structure at the bust. The dress will create its own structure with your own body structure.
As a side note, be aware that pregnant brides can also look smashing on their wedding day! Bridal salons do carry wedding dresses for expecting mothers however they simply do not advertise them for they are not in high demand!
Also, once the wedding done is set and done, ti is important to preserve your wedding dress. This means send it to a reliable dry cleaning facility and have them airtight it for you. Make sure however you inspect the gown before having it sealed up.
