In the world of wedding photography today, There are two primary approaches to wedding photography, which are Traditional and photojournalistic.
Traditional wedding photography has been around longer and hence its name stick to more of the traditional or common poses. Traditional wedding photography provides for more classically posed images captured with control and interaction between the photographer and couple on the day of the wedding. Some couples may choose a traditional wedding photographer to ensure that all the main moments of their wedding are captured. Traditional wedding photography also takes more time for every detail is examined and corrected upon the capture of the shot. A traditional wedding photographer may also be hired by a couple that just wants simple pictures, or by a couple who are older in age or getting married for the second time.
When I think of Photojournalistic wedding photography I think of the paparazzi. When we refer to paparazzi where referring to photographers who take candid or un-staged photos of celebrities. Photojournalistic photography does just that of the couple, bridal party and guests. Since photojournalistic photography is focuses more on candid and non staged images, there is little to no interaction with the wedding photographer. This style of wedding photographer is newer and more risky for some couples. You don’t really know what your pictures will turn out like. If you’re not a photogenic person, this might not be the route you want to necessarily think of taking.
